Got a PS3 the other day and damn. Gaming on a 60 inch Sony in 1080P with 5.1 Dolby Digital is pretty amazing.

I was going to do that since we have 3 large screens, but haven't yet. I'd probably have seizures...

Yeah it does look really good, it's too bad only a couple of games use 1080p, almost everything out right now runs at 720p. I can't see any difference on my 43" when something on my ps3 runs and 1080 vs. 720. You should try connecting your PC to your Sony, COD4 running at 1080p running on PC > 1080p on PS3.

Here comes my stupid question:

Wouldn't I need a serious video card to run COD4 on my 65" LCD?

Probably not. The res shouldn't be an isssue and the TV pobably amplifies the signal. The problem here is the logistics of moving it back and fourth.

Here's my setup; I got my 43 inch in the same room as my computer so I run a DVI to HDMI cable to the TV. My Nvidia has two DVI outs, so one goes to the monitor, the other to the TV. My Soundcard also has two audio outs so a cable runs to the TV and the other to the PC speakers/headset. Finally I have my nvidia profile set to clone the PC video on the TV. New TVs have a lot of inputs so you can easily cycle through satellite, ps3, pc etc. with the remote.

As far as needing a good video card, that's true Grom cause you need to be running the game at 1920x1080 if you want the TV to run at its native resolution , you can still run it at lower resolutions but it will be blurry and/or stretched or played in a box depending on how you tell the TV to handle the video input. The 8800 cards have no problem running games in 1920x1080. I'm sure you will get full FPS with a single 8800 but you can also go SLI to support the super high resolutions.

As always, Talbot pwns the technology.

I guess I'll wait until I get around to upgrading the comp specs.
